Press Release Body: The first final match between the Hyderabad Heroes and Lahore Badshahs gave a complete surprise to the audience and the players alike. The team was defeated by 7 runs which has not happened before in this series. This is the first they have lost and failed to take lead in the finals of the Edelweiss Challenge.
The Heroes won the toss and took to batting first. The openers Maher and Razzaq came in on the field and started to play. The power play of the innings was made use of by these two players and they managed to make 50 runs in 7 overs at the loss of one wicket. Razzaq proved to be valuable to give a push to the run rate with his 21 off 12 balls. Maher contributed 33 runs and gave a good standing to the team. Rayadu was in next and responsible for managing to get a worthwhile total which could be defended. The team's lower order failed to make a mark and the team wound up their innings at 143 runs.
With an achievable target of 144 runs, the Lahore Badshahs came in to play. Umar, one of the openers managed to take a strong hold on the field and stay put there. The other players from the upper and middle order failed to make any good runs for the team battle. It was only Azhar Mahmood who scored 34 runs and contributed well for the team but he too could not stay for longer. Umar remained unbeaten till the end and scored 43 runs. The team finished up at 137 runs which were just 6 runs short of the rival score. However they failed to tie the match too. Binny and Rayadu were the Men of the Match.
